Hanging On and Holding Out
Hanging On and Holding Out was born when I was forced to grapple with events that redefined my life—the illness and death of my father. The work is about the emotional rollercoaster that ensued and the aftermath of his death. The installation consists of painted walls, framed drawings, sculptures, single channel video, framed photographs and custom playing cards. Each time the project travels to a different venue, new elements are created in direct response to the space and my recent experiences.
Images are from venues across the US including ArtCenter, Miami, FL; Contemporary Artists Center, North Adams, MA; Graceland University, Lamoni, IA; and the University of Tulsa, OK.
