I ____ a dollar

There was a time when a dollar made a difference in my day. I either used it for bus fare to get to school or to buy some food for the day. In I ____ a dollar, I covertly install 100 1-dollar bills in a public place for people to take. Along with the money, I hang a note inviting people to assess whether they want or need a dollar and to take one if it will make a difference in their day.
